Quick Nail Tip for Maxing the Glitz of your Glitter Polishes
—
It’s standard practice to layer glitter polishes over a creme base color to embellish that first shade. But what if you just want glitter-encrusted nails?
You can
- Apply 4-6 painstaking coats of glitter polish depending on how much glitter is in the formula.
- You can do color-echoing like I did for the above 2 looks.
What’s “echo-ing”?
You simply prime your nails with a base shade that is:
- Similar in color to the main color of your glitter polish. (If it’s multicolored, pick the most dominant glitter color in the mixture.)
- Make sure it is metallic and not matte/creme.
“Echo-ing” the glitter with a complementary metallic base shade fills in the visible “gaps” between glitter bits and makes it look like you applied many coats (until it’s opaque) when in reality you only applied 1-2 coats. As long as the base color is not too far off from the glitter polish, it should not even be noticeable under your glitter shade.
